The same could be said of Israel's war of "defense" the last month or so... so many new little terrorists have been made, this fight will never end :(

However ill-advised Israel's offensive may be, you still have to admit that they have more of a reason to attack than America did in Iraq. 'Some Saudi extremist set up suicide attacks on buildings in our country! Let's invade a country that has oil we want!' It doesn't even make sense. Then again, very few of Bush's policies look like they were devised by anything with higher intelligence than an angry feces throwing monkey.

If you look at it from the point of view of a little boy who wants to do something to make Daddy proud, invading Iraq makes sense. If you look at it from the point of view of a man who has too high an opinion of himself and thinks that it's his duty to go in and finish what Daddy started, it makes sense. The man thinks his shit doesn't stink and being wrong is something other people are guilty of being and that he's on some mission from God to bring the Way of the WASP to the entire world.

What I don't understand is how the US could re-elect this man. It still baffles me. I've heard the excuse that the Democrats just need to find a better candidate, but that seems to me just to be further admitting the general stupidity of the American public.

The President is not elected by popular vote. He is elected by the Electoral College. The number of electors each state has is based on population.

As for the number of popular votes each candidate received, Shrub got just over half the votes. I know from speaking to many people not everyone who voted for Shrub much liked the man but they felt he'd do a better job than Kerry would. So, really, less than half of America voted for Bush because they actually like the man.

I know how the electoral system works. I also know that Republican officials cheated to get him in, but that's a different story. The fact is, enough people voted for him again, despite everything, and that's not very smart.

Yes, I would agree that they have been more provoked, I just think their retaliation was ill planned and will in the long run have done more harm than good - it's like they took that lesson from us...

I dunno, I think the monkey might have come up with better policies.

Don't forget about the Islamic radicals that have also been lobbing rockets. However much Israel is using this to excuse killing innocents, they aren't the only ones lobbing rockets. Both sides need to be told in no uncertain terms that unless they all stop with the killing of innocents, third party/UN forces will come into the area and destroy any and all bases of military operation on both sides of the conflict. Also, any and all outside aid of equipment or troops or any kind of support will cease immediately or the third-party forces will go and bomb all centers of arms and military production.

I know that's so not going to happen because as if the US would ever go along with something that isn't pro-Israel and would put itself at risk for being bombed. It's all good for the Islamic forces, though. The U.S. doesn't support them so it doesn't matter. Just don't threaten Shrub's interests. snerk

Don't get me wrong, I certainly don't see *either* side as being at all innocent in this... Israel was provked intentionally and like a child on a playground, they eventually gave in with violence, which I am afraid is only going to make things worse in the long run. The international community doesn't want to help fix the middle east, their only concern is the oil there, not the people and certainly not peace :(

A professor I once had for American history once gave us her ten rules of history and one of them was 'Follow the Money'. Anytime you want to get to the bottom of why something happened, follow the money. Works not only for unravling the past but also the present. The love of money is the root of all evil. So is the love of driving everywhere and the American love of the SUV. How deliciously ironic that gas prices are biting us in the ass. How disgustingly pathetic the only reason people are actually cutting down on driving and pursuing more environmentally-friendly and petrolium-free options is the gas prices. How pathetic it didn't happen because people actually got a clue and saw we needed to stop raping the earth and its resources for our own selfish desires. >:p
