Yeah... I think I sorta understand. A bit. I have a cousin who is (*gasp!* Big secret!) gay. I think, of the entire family (and we are a rather large group), his parents, sister, my parents, my grandparents (his mom's sister's my grandma), another random cousin, and I know. Otherwise, it's a secret that is very much tiptoed around. Because they wouldn't take it well at all, and he rather wants to be able to stay in contact with them. If only for his mum's sake.

And you're not a coward, by any means. I mean, your relationship with someone is pretty much the most dramatic thing that could change with them. So yeah, it totally makes sense.

I think I possibly live in an amazingly liberal area, considering the rest of our surroundings. Either that, or they're too lazy to do anything. Which is more likely.

But yes. My parents have somehow gotten the impression that I'm probably gay, so I get a speech about once a month about how they'd respect any 'life decisions' that I make, no matter what they were... Um. I'm still not sure how to respond to that.

And, frankly, I'm pretty much a coward too... I have a rainbow bracelet that reads 'love' on it, and when I was asked about it by a teacher who I absolutely love and adore, but am not sure where stands on such issues, I said yeah, I understood the symbolism of the rainbow nowadays, and I mostly wore it 'cause someone gave it to me. >.< Yeah... Partially true, but still. I panicked. So yes. You're in no way a coward. Hesitation is very understandable.
