*cheers loud and long mentally* I truly wish we heard more news like this here in the States. I don't pay attention to the media because I know it's nothing but a bunch of twisted, dumbed-down crap but you do start to wonder after a while if anyone likes us in the Middle East. I'd understand if no one did but I hate to see people take out their hatred of a nation on individuals. Not all of us are the sterotype. Not all of us support Bush. Thank you for posting this, dear. It made my night. Glad to hear there are pockets of sanity and reason and decency in a land full of chaos and hate.

Yeah. It was an article in the local paper, with pictures of people praying and everything, and I totally cheered when I saw it. My cousins were all like "...hmph."

The Roadflares (imaginary band of redheads that Nenya and I have created) have a song called "Yellow Ribbon" and a song called "Not In Our Name". I've actually written out the lyrics to the second one. (They suck, but they get the point across.)

Ooh! Ooh! *waives hand madly in air* Add me to The Roadflares! I'm a redhead! What are the lyrics? I need to know so I can sing the songs loud and proud until I annoy people enough to shove stuff in my mouth and then make sure I can't spit it out by putting a strip of duct tape across my mouth. *grins and bounces in chair with excitement*

Hee! Certainly. ::adds you to the Roadflares:: I'm only in the band because I'm related to a redhead, although I've been called red-haired in some lights, and because I can play the keyboard. The lyrics are on my computer at home, but IIRC they're all "Not in our name // Not in our name // We live in a land that's gone insane // Not in our name // Not in our name // Those who sign the laws should take the blame" or sommat like that. One verse went ( ... )

No, I know. ::hugs:: There ::are:: some good things going on and things ::aren't:: hopeless.

There was an article in the paper the other day about the American military buying positive press coverage in Iraq for the war, and censoring anything that casts it in a negative light. My mom's all like "...but isn't that propaganda?" Wow, guess the American military isn't perfect after all? There go all my delusions! < /sarcasm >

*Rolls eyes* Oh wow took them that long to figure it out? Eesh it saddens me that people actually believe that propaganda crap in the first place >.<;

*hugs* well at least some of us see it for wht it really is!

Heh. Yeah, well...It's not as if the American government is any worse than any other government. I mean, this kind of stuff has been happening for as long as humanity's existed. But everyone thinks America is so much ::better::, is so much ::smarter::, is Teh Leet Rebel and infallible, and then we find out that it's just like every other country that's ever existed. But nobody wants to believe it. It's so messed up. ::sigh::
