Saddam's Final Victory
I've got this great idea for a story.
It's the story of the president of a small but proud country. One day, a huge, evil empire invades the country on false pretenses and deposes the president. They install a puppet regime in his place and plunge the country into civil war. Then they try the president in a kangaroo court for supposed crimes against his people, find him guilty, and sentence him to death.
In the final scene of the story, the president is led to the gallows. He refuses to wear a hood. While the crowd jeers and calls for his blood, he closes his eyes and begins peacefully praying to his god. Just before he finishes his prayer, the floor drops out from under him, he falls eighteen feet, and his neck snaps. He dies, a noble martyr and a civilized man among savages.
