The owner of the company I work for is totally nuts! In a good way.
He's really rich and eccentric, kind of the way I imagine I would be if I had that much money. He habitually walks around the office in jeans, a t-shirt, and a baseball cap, and I've got a bet going on with my co-worker that he's going to show up to the office christmas party the same way. For Kevin, Robert, and Judy, he's the guy I showed you the picture of. The one who looks like Gaius Baltar.
This morning, we had a company meeting at the ungodly hour of 8:30. We all crammed into the reception area of the office, where we found Michael (the eccentric owner) and a camera crew waiting. There was a large, conical object in the corner, with a curtain draped over it. I'm sure you can imagine what it was.
Michael started the meeting by asking us if we were excited. After several tries, we managed to convince him that we were indeed excited.
"Are you excited?!"
"YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"
He went on to announce that he was donating a bunch of money to the Grant a Wish Foundation, or whatever it's called. You know, that charity that grants wishes to terminally ill children. There's something I really like about this charity, now that I think about it. Instead of arbitrarily and possibly futilely attempting to extend the children's lives by using the money to fund disease research, they just make sure that the child's last days are happy ones. I don't know about you, but that makes more sense to me. Quality over quantity.
The meeting continued. At this point, Michael announced that as a thank you for all our hard work, he was giving everyone in the company . . .
(With a dramatic flourish, he opened the drape over the conical object to reveal not a tree, but a pile of boxes.)
. . . an XBox 360.
Yes, you read that correctly. Mine is sitting on my desk as I type this. Apparently he ordered about $50,000 worth of these things directly from Microsoft. That's more than Future Shop ordered for Christmas, I gather.
The system came with Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter and some arcade game compilation. Once I get this set up, I'll be inviting everyone over in shifts to enjoy it with me.
"Are you excited?"
