Why, hello! And thank you. :D I must say, I've always been taken with your icon when I see you posting at athanarel. It's beautiful.
You seem to keep a fine blog as well. Do you mind if I friend you?
As to my writing interests, for the last few years, ever since I've gotten into Nanowrimo, I've been mostly immersed in writing various novels, none of which ever manage to get finished. I hope most of them will be finished some day, but usually I end up moving on to the next one without worrying about completing the last. :P I've also been experiencing a vexingly dry spell for a vexingly long period of time, though. The words will come if I make them, but only barely, and so I'm afraid I haven't been trying very hard to make them.
At the moment I'm trying to work heavily on worldbuilding, as well as plotting the most recent of my novels.
I also work on short stories for the quasi-weekly short story competition Write Fight. But though I can enjoy writing in short story form, it's not really my native inclination.
Of course if what you really wanted to know was what kinds of things I write about, I'd be happy to tell you that, too. :) And happy to collaborate in any way should our interests coincide! That would be awesome. I'm leaving tomorrow morning for Chicago and won't be back until Tuesday the 10th, but in the mean time I'd be happy to hear about your own writing, and I'll certainly get back to you once I'm back home.
Thank you! I can't quite remember where I got it. Originally I was using it as a visualization for a character of mine -- roleplaying, not story, though come to think of it, she would make a good story.
Go right ahead, I'm flattered.

Yes!! Me TOO!! I'm glad it's not just me. It's really annoying sometimes, because writing grounds me. Loves me. Runs away with me and makes mad passionate tender love with me under starlight and brings me back a little brighter, a little braver, a little stronger. When the writing goes, I feel like a girl who is being cheated on by her true love.
Yeah. Ow.
Write. Me. Mostly lately poetry. Because it can still sometimes bolt into me from a clear sky and leave me electric, lit and tingling. Long time gone however, more like a year or two, have been stories. Mostly short. One, two novellas began and left, like you related. Fantasy, mostly. Revamped fairy tales a favorite. Drawing on folklore I love to do. Inversing my sentences I am. >.<
Other than that, dibs and dabs here and there for fun; journals, roleplaying, correspondence, experiments, and one constructed language. Ad asa avhuinn dí eun en cea he'. (Translation: It's been a while since I worked on it.)
And some ideas occurred to me about a collaboration, so I'll throw them out. 1) a ghost story. I've been wanting to try my hand at one more and more lately. Especially one along the lines of the it's-what-you-can't-quite-see-or-understand-that-terrifies-you-the-most, maybe even try an untraditional or unused setting or haunting. 2) Build a world or culture together. Perhaps we could use elements of our separate worlds along with newly thought-up elements or start from scratch. 3)A story told by letters -- the correspondence between the two characters. A more streamlined way to collaborate a novel. Also, think of the possibilities! Maybe this could even be the ghost story. 4)Some sort of creative collaboration using LiveJournal. A separate idea or implementing one of the above. Maybe some sort of 'creativity' journal where we record work we've done, pieces we've written, or ideas we've had; complain, talk about the creative process and how it fits into our lives, brainstorm, and encourage each other.
Wow, I think I hit some sort of gold vein! I hope this super long reply doesn't overwhelm you! ^^;;
