It's been a while since I participated in the icontests. I've seen everybody begging pleading asking for more participation, while my stillanakin has been flurishing as of late (and I haven't even been participating in that until recently!). I got a smattering of wins. Thanks to some advise on goodswicons I've been improving my style. I don't have an editor that does

Oh, dear, sounds your icon-making program is perhaps getting a bit corrupted? I don't know enough, I must admit, about things like PSP and PS. And as for the monitor, it should show true colour; if you can't find your manual, give the maker a call--tech support ought to be free to help with that; or check online at the maker's website--sometimes there's basic info like settings and how to adjust. Ack! I just figured it out. The long thing is actually two icons! Dang, that's clever! I'll have to go have a look at the whole icontest for that theme.

Btw, I finally realized that I had not friended you, so have done so, and put you in my custom SW friends filter, so that you can see those posts. :) You're welcome to friend me back--my LJ is FO. Off to see which of your icons I want to add to my extra userpic space.

Yes, the contest was to make a pair of icons that related to one another. I decided that instead of making two different icons, I would make two icons that look like they flowed together. It makes sense to display them that way, too.

No, my image program isn't corrupted, it's old, as in PSP version four old. Someone gave me the full version of PSP 4 back in 1999 (because he updated, I think), and since I never paid for it, in order to get new, I would have to pay the full price. I'm a cheap bastard. What can I say?

Same thing with the monitor. I chose a lesser video card when I bought this computer and souped up the audio instead. The monitor is capable of showing true colour (since I had to buy a new one four years ago when the old 13" one died), but the video card cannot.

I went over and had a look at that particular week, for the pairs icontest. Wish yours had won. I liked that your set looked like one piece of artwork. :)

If the mods of the various icontest comns would just start pimping themselves over at jedi_news again, folks like me would know when to go and vote. Of course, I also think that the icontest commns are on their watch list, so the editors there ought to be picking that up as well. I think I will make a comment to that effect. I want to vote, I just never know when. :(

It was the desire of imadra_blue that we not cover the voting for the icontests anymore, just the issuing of challenges. The rest of the jedi_news editors agreed (including me). We figure if you're really interested, you've friended the comm. Of course, you can voice the wish, and she can put it to the vote again.

I tried pimping my icontest galleries three times now on jedi_news, but the other editors (whomever is responsible for that day) have passed it up. No idea why. I could pimp it on my day to be editor, but that seems like cheating.
