James waited until Ali was asleep before leaving her side for anything more than a minute or so. The doctors had just confirmed via another ultrasound that the baby was okay but Ali had a bruised talebone and sore lower back from the fall. She'd bled a small amount from the impact of the fall, but the doctors assured them that if she just rested over the next few days and remained as immobile as she could, the baby wouldn't be at risk. She was now just being kept a few hours for observation because the check up had revealed a slight increase in her blood pressure, though they thought it was just from stress of the accident.
He met Izzy's eyes over the top of Ali's hospital bed and titled his head towards the exit of the ER bay, indicating for her to follow him out. He needed a coffee and he needed to tell Izzy he might've potentially made things difficult for them in the foreseeable future. He stood up and left the bad as quietly as he could so he didn't wake Ali. It had taken her long enough to fall asleep as it was.
