Five weeks later, my midwest trip... [Part 1]

Sep 26, 2007 00:05

A curve in the road - that's a pretty big deal 'round these parts. Also, bonus: partial view of my dad's face.

Despite - or maybe because of - the fact that I'd never actually want to BE a farmer or live out in the sticks, I just can't get enough of farms.

Rural skyline. :P

I find it nearly impossible to get pics of birds in flight, so I wanted proof, dammit.

While it's often pretty warm out there in the summer, the heat was especially oppressive this time around. What's worse, the humidity was far more intense than usual. If small town life moved slowly BEFORE...

This shack was behind the place my parents and I stayed. I can't for the life of me tell you why I like this picture.

It's got character...

and check out the bumper sticker! Clearly the driver is/was ahead of his time.

I love old, run-down buildings.

Also, old "ads." (Yeah, I know the pic's askew. But I like it too much.)

The grain elevator towering over Main St. (which consists of about a dozen stores/restaurants in one block).

Promised sunset pic no. 1. [and, yes, that's actually ANOTHER old-timey pickup in the bottom left.]

and no. 2!

I have two more days worth of photos, but rest assured that each of those days only has nine photos. I'll post those tomorrow.
