THE DAY IS HERE!!! Today was the premiere of "Natsu no Koi Niji-Iro Wa Kagayaku," which translates to "Summer Love Shines in Rainbow Colours." And true to the title sounding like an Arashi lyric, the drama's theme is Arashi's "Love Rainbow" why the hell didn't they just call it that instead XDDDDDDDDD And it stars the beautiful Jun Matsumoto. OH YES. I have been alllllll over this show since they announced it, and it's finally here! But I'm too tired to do a review right now, so I've just jotted down some thoughts on the episode.
Hehe, love how this show starts with a quote too (this time by Muhammad Ali - Smile began with a quote by Martin Luther King.) And the beach is beautiful.
First scene with Taiga = UNF. The very DEFINITION of GQMF. And that shower scene isn't too bad on the eyes either. HAY JUN HAY~
Awards show: LOL PWNED.
I can totes imagine Jun being like the kid version of Taiga, all dramatic and shit. haha.
Lol Jun looks way too old to be in a school uniform now... our Shin is all grown up <33333
Love the B&W "college" pics they've got there.
Slow-motion swagger in a hot-pink jumpsuit = CLASSIC Jun.
HOLY SHIT MATSUJUN IS ACTUALLY SKYDIVING. THAT IS BADASS.
Love the panicked voiceover. He'd make a hilarious seiyuu, except his voice is so distinctive that he'd sound the same in every role.
Hanging from a tree? That's one hell of a meet-cute.
Hey, the girl's wearing Chucks!
JUN IS FUCKING ADORBS. HOMAIGAHD.
I can't understand a word they're saying, but Jun's tsundere speaks loud and clear.
"...umi da!" I HELLA CALLED IT. hehe.
The scenery is beautiful. As is Jun.
The intro is sooooooooooo pretty. (And cute.) Except that those stairs freak me out - what if you fell off the side?
It would suck to come from an acting family, because you'd never know if they were serious or pulling a prank.
Haha did he not lock his car?! Maybe Japan is safer than here, but...
Lol Yuko cries like Song Hye Kyo in "Full House". Actually, I'm getting a "Full House" sort of vibe already, what with the sexy-but-cantankerous actor and spunky, cheerful "normal girl" as the leads.
Hey, her bag (gold tote) looks like my new bag! She's two-for-two with me on accessories.
The beach really is beautiful.
I hella like the BGM so far. This seems like really well-made soundtrack for a romcom.
Hahahahaha the "confession" cracks me up. Taiga's bracing himself for a love confession (you can tell he's fallen when he says "aitakute") and then Shiori busts out with "I'M A HUGE FAN OF YOUR DAD!!!" ^___^V And he's like "...wut?" *dies*
Heh, I can tell he's like "MY DAD HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS." after she mentions being his dad's fan a second time. Poor guy, living under the shadow of his dad all the time. You can tell it raises his hackles and gives him that prickly vibe - "I've got my OWN style."
The flowers outside Shiori's house are BEAUTIFUL. I love how high-res my download is, because the series really is beautifully shot.
God, Taiga's acting as the cop is so wooden. Jun doesn't act like that... does he? I mean, he's no Nino, but I rather like Jun's acting. Although I must say, when Taiga walks in (during the cop scene) in a tee, vest and fedora, I can't help but think that this entire role is going to be Jun playing Matsujun. Not that "Matsujun" isn't already a role in itself.
I like the "Wild Youth" vest. Quite appropriate, whether intentional or not. Although maybe not the "red cadillac and a black moustache" one. Although there WAS HYD Final... hehe.
Ohhhhh, that's what the umbrella thing Little J was doing at the beginning of the show - he was imitating his dad's most famous role. lol.
Wait, his dad DIED?! That sucks that he didn't even get a proper goodbye from his dad - poor Taiga just got interrupted by the doctor and nurse and just ninja'd out of there.
DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN. She just busts in there and right on cue, SLAP!!! The rest of the staff is like, "who the fuck is this lady?!" lol. The staff's faces during her rant are PRICELESS.
Aww, Taiga's dad was so nice to write back to Shiori! I wonder if Matsujun would do the same. ...Naw, he's busy filming THIS, duh. XD
Taiga acting out his dad's famous line in front of the grave was really sweet. Well, bittersweet now, considering that the first word in his line is "Jinsei" (life).
Andddddddddd he starts to cry. He's improving! :D The sobbing is a lot less awkward than in "Smile," but then Vito wasn't intended to be pretty. Vito's tears came out of a place of deep desperation, and awkward as it was, it was real. And I'm aware that my opinions on "Smile" make me sound like a total Jun stan but IDGAF, that shit was groundbreaking for Jun.
OMFG is that a RAINBOW?! Yeah, I get that rainbows mean hope and he's a member of Arashi and the show's title has "rainbow" in it, but that shit killed the scene I think.
So my Japanese is limited but does this mean that Shiori's going to work for the company now?! I love how she just busts in and peaces out all the time, and here she's just like "Yoroshiku onegaishimasu!" =DV while Taiga is like o_0
OH MY GOD I AM FALLING ASLEEEEEP I had to rewind the kitchen scene like five times.
Oh, so THAT'S where the almost-kiss comes in! And... BAM he's on the floor. I think I will never tire of watching Jun Matsumoto get smacked around. ^_~
LOVE Jun's studded shoes!!! I think he wore those in his last photoshoot for Dazed and Confused Japan, too. :D
So Shiori has a kid. WAT. And the plot thickens~
Lol so this girl on Twitter and the only other English speaker tweeting about Natsuniji was talking about Jun and his sexface at the end of the episode... still can't figure out which one she was talking about but oh well. His face during the entire time he's lying on the floor (after being knocked down) is priceless. And thus, Episode One ends... le sigh. <3
Preview for next week:
- Haha, his srs face in the first clip is hilarious. Stalking Spy work on Shiori, perhaps?
- Sawamura Ikki popped up for a bit! SHINOHARA-SAN~ <3 <3 <3
- Shiori's daughter is adorable.
- ROFL at Taiga performing CPR on that mannequin with a manic smile on his face.
- "What am I doing?" Yes, what are you doing?
- Yeah, this tells me nothing about what's going to happen next.
So, in conclusion:
1. Matsujun is beautiful.
2. The scenery is beautiful.
3. Yuko is beautiful.
4. The BGM is beautiful.
5. Life is beautiful.
6. Ze girls are beautiful.
7.
Even ze orchestra is beautiful. I've been extremely EXCITE for this series since the moment I heard it was confirmed, and this is a pretty good start in content and ratings (15%). It's no Tokyo Dogs (18% PLUS Shun and Hiro), but hey, it's decent. Yuko is a good actress and Jun is doing great so far. The chemistry between them is already well on its way, although I think the teasers made it seem a little sexier than Episode One actually was. Perhaps that'll develop with time, the way Kimi Wa Petto did. In any case, I have a good feeling about Jun's first getsuku. <3
