Hiro Mizushima, Ayaka married since February
Fri, April 3, 2009 (2:00pm EDT)
Popular actor Hiro Mizushima (24) and singer-songwriter Ayaka (21) surprised the entertainment industry on Friday when they held a press conference announcing that they recently married. In addition, it was revealed that Ayaka will be putting her music career on hold.
The two apparently first met three years ago, but it wasn't until a magazine interview last spring that their relationship began to develop. The pair started seriously dating in August. They decided to register their marriage on February 22.
Mizushima explained, "She is indispensable to me. I thought, if I let go of her, I'll regret it my entire life." Ayaka commented, "My first impression of him was that he had really powerful eyes, and he could completely see through me. Right now, he is someone I respect from the bottom of my heart."
It was also learned that immediately after Ayaka's debut in 2006, she became ill with Graves' disease, an autoimmune disorder. Ayaka tearfully reported that her symptoms have been increasing. As a result, Ayaka will continue with her music until the end of this year, after which she will put her career on hold. Mizushima promised to protect and support her.

Tokyograph WHAAAAAAAAAAAT.
Apparently everyone around me - either in Celeb World or RL - is either settling down or getting knocked up; a suitemate of mine just told me that two of her neighbours found out they were pregnant over break, and three of my cousins - all sisters, and all in direct succession to each other (i.e. second child, third child, fourth child) - are pregnant (including my 22-year-old cousin/best friend, which I am STILL trying to process). Mamo got married and had a kid last December, and now my Hiro is getting married.
I can understand him getting married - he's turning 25 - but Ayaka is hella young. Like, two months younger than I am. But I guess it's normal to marry young in Japan (and she isn't 19 like Utada was - she's an adult by global standards, including American). And she's not exactly wanting for financial/career security at this time either, seeing as she has constantly released hit after hit (whereas someone like me is graduating in a sucky-ass economy, and I in particular have never had a job in my life... she's the kind of girl who makes me look back and think, "what the HELL have I done with my life?"). AND they've been dating for a bit now. Plus, I suppose it's better that she gets married before the symptoms get really bad. As much as I hate to see Hiro go, I hope he and Ayaka are happy and that she gets better.
Also, mazel tov Ayaka! You've obviously got great taste in men to snare him so early XD Plus he's a great guy all around: talented in his field, smart (bilingual and a Keio graduate), friggin' gorgeous, and just the tiniest bit romantic, as we can see from his remark at the press conference.
... but Hiro <3
