No, I won't kill you for talking a lot about this post - I'm actually glad people are reading my stuff hahaha. I sometimes get a little self-indulgent when writing, but then again I suppose that's what blogs are for. It's a bonus when you find out that people are willing to hear you out and/or feel the same way.

I've been dying to discuss this with people because it is such a big issue with me; a lot of the friends I've surrounded myself with this year are all interested in Japan. I went to Little Tokyo in Los Angeles this weekend and I had lots of fun playing around with friends and looking at all the Japanese stuff, but I was a little embarrassed at how I behaved - I think that I was a little too excited at all the Japaneseness even though I obviously have a long history with Japan.

I myself am thinking about studying abroad in Tokyo - the thing is that the programme is only for international relations students. I am a sociology and Asian American Studies major, with the intention of going into counseling psychology (with emphasis on Asian American culture because that is what I am part of and surrounded with). I can technically shift my focus to international relations, because of my background in studying (1) society in general and (2) the mix between Asia and America. But part of me wonders if I can really do anything with an international relations degree (I love travelling the world and having an international job would be AWESOME) or if it is just an excuse for me to play around in Tokyo because I am a wannabe Japanese person or whatever. LOL.

By the way, I ended up buying "Letters from Iwo Jima" in the original Japanese with English subtitles (I found it on sale! Yay! ^_^) and it really does make a difference. I got much more into the story because I didn't have to think about the cheesy dubbing (especially as I know what Nino sounds like). Also, I found it really, really funny that I found this message while listening to "Gimmick Game" - Nino's image in the movie is so different from his image in Arashi, but the character is still SO Nino (especially when he complains and rolls his eyes LOL).

... and finally, don't kill ME for talking your ear off, hahaha
