Chapter 1

Young girls often dream of marriage. Even though they cannot decide on their husband, they still long for it.

-

Wedding gowns are most common in hues of white. On the wedding day of the Queen Majesty, she has worn a pure white dress and held an orange bouquet of gillyflowers, as gillyflowers often symbolises everlasting love.

The legend claims that wearing blue jewellery on the wedding day; tying blue ribbons on the back of the socks; having lace stitched onto the sleeves will bring luck and happiness to the couple embarking on the new life after marriage.

To have the ideal wedding to happen, the groom also plays a very important role.

-

It is not unusual for those young ladies that have just stepped into society for the first time to plan their future wedding.

But having said that, in Lydia's mind, she still has not grasp the clear concept of marriage.

((there's a sentence here but i'm not quite sure of what it means, sorry!))

In regards to those girls that are soon to be married, they are, at this period of time, extremely elated and happy. However, unlike those girls, Lydia is filled with nothing but confusion.

Even when asked to see if she intends to have which type of wedding, Lydia cannot associate herself to think of any type of wedding she would like, as she thinks that marriage is not easy for her to decide on.

-

At the Ashenbert residence, Lydia is currently picking a dress for her wedding.

"Hey, how does this dress look? Lydia, I think it will look great on you."

Surrounded by elegant appliances in the small salon, gave the impression of a noble purplish grey eyes that were gazing at Lydia.

At the foot of the Bosi carpet; well designed luxury ceiling; paintings hanged on the walls; lush curtains hanging on the glass windows, can only do justice to be the perfect background for the person in the room. That person, giving an air of elegance and style, which also, coincidentally, is Lydia's fiance.

The table was pilled high up with fashion plates, causing one to be tired just by the thought of looking through them, but Edgar easily selected a plate, handing it over for Lydia to see.

Since Edgar and Lydia have decided to get married, Lydia's father has been helping Lydia to prepare for her wedding - ensuring that the wedding reception would be commenced without any faults.

"Ye-Yeah, it is very beautiful... but..."

"Say, if we use this much lace, I wonder how much it will cost?"

"Isn't that a little bit too plain? How about other this embroidery pearl flower?"

"Pearl?"

"Eh, this is not a dress suited for a civilian's daughter! It is definitely not for the Carlton's family to wear..."

Lydia then stepped to the side, glancing at her father who was sitting at the side.

"Ah, that would not be the case,Professor Carlton. Lydia is very beautiful, and is able to attract others due to her looks. Don't you think she should be more confident, Professor?"

"Eh? ...no, that's..."

Lydia started to sweat at her father's ambiguous answer.

If I knew this would happen, I wouldn't have agreed so quickly to get married!

A few days ago, Lydia and her father visited the Duchess of Maysfield to consult her for advice in preparation for marrying into a noble family. As Lydia's mother and her grandmother has both passed away, Lydia could not discuss this sort of thing with any older woman.

Moreover, her father had no idea whatsoever on the idea of marriage.

The Duchess is very close to Edgar, and was very pleased with the wedding.

To marry into the Ashenbert family with aristocratic origins, the preparation would be very expensive.

In the end, when Lydia hasn't even gotten to dream about her marriage, she was already given a serious reality check.

"Earl, if Lydia wears that simple wedding dress, it would look like a civilian marriage."

After hearing what Professor Carlton said, Edgar seems to finally understand the side concerns.

"Professor, as long as you are willing to hand Lydia over to be my wife, all the wedding preparation shall be arranged by us. You will only need to prepare all the casual clothing needed when Lydia becomes the Countess."

"Ah, Duchess Maysfield has said the same to me... but I, as a father..."

"****It would seem impolite to speak of the cash arrangement, and professor, I think you are reasonable and can understand."

Lydia's father was a reasonable and understandable man with a mind of a scholar, but the only thing that the Professor was uncomfortable about was that if Lydia's mother was alive, they would not have to trouble the Duchess for help for the wedding.

"Ah, I understand."

Speaking of the bride's dowry, it is necessary for the table with linen cloth to consist of all things essential for the bride. As the bride would need new clothes, shoes, hats, ornaments and make-up, these must also be prepared.

However, even if the things that may seem fine to a civilian, it might be of no use in the Earl's house.

Dresses, jewellery, under the roof of the high society will seem common; wallpaper, food and appliances would be unecessary as Edgar has already a lot of these products that are much more superior than those in civilian houses.

In the end, Duchess Maysfield proposed that the Carltons will only need to prepare casual clothings.
