Chapter 1
The butler (Tompkins) informs Edgar that there are visitors in the mansion and Edgar leaves to entertain the guests.
Lydia's father then sighed wearily.
As Lydia's father took of his spectacles to clean them, he looked a little unorganized, and his hair was a little messy - but Lydia prefers her father that way.
While Lydia gazed at her father, she wonders if getting married so early was alright.
After deciding to marry Edgar, her father was starting to look increasingly lonely. And while looking at the lonely form of her father, Lydia could not help but feel lonely as well.
As Lydia wanted to accompany Edgar on his journey, she readily accepted his proposal. But, at that point of time, Lydia did not realise that she would have to leave her father.
Moreover, Lydia never thought that a marriage between two families of different nobility statuses would be so troublesome.
"I'm sorry, Father..."
Her father was roused from his thoughts and stared motionlessly at Lydia for a moment before smiling softly.
"Lydia, this is not something you should apologise for, and you should look happier."
"Uhn."
"I am also very glad for you. The Earl seems to care for you very much."
Lydia then understood what her father meant. Edgar had known that this scenario would happen, and thus has requested that Duchess Maysfield to assist Lydia.
Having said that, the Carlton family was actually considered rather wealthy in the city, as Lydia had never felt any hardship in life with regards to the wealth of the Carltons.
Thus, it would not be of any problem for Lydia's father to prepare the funds needed for the marriage.
If I were to marry into a family of similar status as our family, Father would not feel inferior - and he should be able to plan the wedding without any doubts.
After thinking about such nonsensical thoughts, Lydia started to get more worried over her marriage.

Placing a hand comfortingly on Lydia's shoulder, the Professor cheerfully remarked,
"As the dresses and decorations would be readied by the Earl, don't you think it will be a relief for us? Although dressing up fancily is important in the beginning, however, as time goes by, there will be lesser and lesser need for you to dress up fancifully."
"Ah, is it the same case for you, Father?"
"Although it is not, my mother was the same.******"
Lydia eventually smiled.

The general public in London has always been very concerned with its social aristocracy, thus, the rumours of Earl Ashenbert getting engaged soon fired up lots of speculation and reports regarding the matter.
As more and more candicates speculated for being the Earl's fiancee was listed on the tabloids, Lydia started to get anxious as her name was not listed in the tabloids.
Well, in the end, there was no one to blame for the absence of Lydia's name on the tabloids. Lydia was not a lady with aristocratic roots, and had not made any impact onto the society for society to notice her.
With red-tea coloured hair, which was said by many to be the colour of rust; yellowish-green eyes, gave an impression of a witch.
As one of the selected few in Londonwith this distinct eye colour, Lydia was able to see what others could not, such as goblins and fairies.
Goblins are found in many places.They live around people, and while their actions could do good to man, they could also be mischievous and mess things up.
Elves can also cause many problems for people. They trick children, cause cows to not produce milk, and cause livestocks to be ill. Likewise, humans also causes many problems to the fairies. Humans destroy their habitats, break their way of living, and disrupt their pattern of life. Thus, a fairy doctor is often called upon to resolve these problems. Fairy doctors serve as a bridge between fairies, ensuring that humans and fairies live together in harmony.
However, as years went by and transcended into the modern era, more and more people started to doubt the existence of the fairies. Eventually, people gradually forgot about fairy doctors and never knew that fairies still existed to this day.
As Lydia inherited her mother's gift, she decided to proclaim herself as a fairy doctor.
After meeting Edgar, she was hired as the Earl's fairy doctor.
Although being the Earl of a fairy country, Edgar had no magic ability to see the presence of the fairies unlike the previous Earls.
Thus, Lydia took his place in solving all the problems the fairies and goblins causes.
In the end, Edgar fell in love with this side of Lydia.
