Change of Position - RP for Renee (conflictedagent)
Larry couldn't believe what he was seeing and hearing. He had no idea how many people they had lost at the White House, including Bill Buchanan, who had been important - at least important to Jack Bauer. The President, her daughter and most of the staff may have been saved, but he knew it had come with a high price. A price he still believed could have been averted if the Vice President had let them make a move when they'd urged him to.
He was frustrated, upset over the loss of life, and still reeling over everything going on around him. He hadn't seen things this bad on some of his worst days in the field with the FBI. To say nothing of his personal stake in things. He'd lost his car, his unit had been compromised, and Renee - the woman he loved - had almost been killed. It was easy to blame Jack because he was the face of everything going on, but inside himself Larry knew this was all just one big clusterfuck from beginning to end.
Just before he got on the helicopter to head to the hospital, he saw Renee. Saw her giving him that worried, defeated look she always got when they'd had a rough day. And something in him just couldn't leave it the way he was leaving it. Maybe because he loved her. Maybe because he just wasn't that guy.
"What?" he said, maybe a little more roughly than he'd intended. "Renee..." he said, a soft sigh. "I don't want to get into another argument. Not now."
