Kenyon is a small town in southeast Minnesota. I've never been there but I follow their
city's police Facebook page.
It's the kind of place where Garrison Keillor and Lake Wobegon fans would appreciate and understand. Chief Sjolander posts daily about things going on in town, reminders like getting your car off the streets for the declared Snow Emergency: Please move all vehicles off the streets. This means cars, trucks, trailers, campers, spaceships, etc.
School closings: Kenyon Wanamingo Schools are closed tomorrow Thursday February 20th due to someone making Old Man Winter upset. Whoever did this needs to say they are sorry and send him a fruit basket. That is all...
Travel advisories: Travel is not advised, but staying home to cuddle is. MN DOT is advising no travel due to blowing snow, icy conditions, and poor visibility. The Kenyon Police Department is advising that you cuddle with family or your pets while staying at home. Throw something in the crockpot and watch some TV Land.
Sometimes there is posts from the Chief's cat:
Thoughts from Chief Sjolander's cat Lita...
Tomorrow is a purrfect day to stay home and lay around the house. My humans will be busy petting me and tending to my every whim:)
Meow,
Lita
Cheif Sjolander will post thank you's about the people who work for the city. He will mention that there is a family in town who needs some clothes so please drop something off at the station and he will make sure it gets to the family. It's the kind of place you wish every little town could be.
Not all things are perfect and there are some posts about stolen equipment and frustrations, but it's all worth the read. Go check it out and fall in love with this small town police Facebook page!
