This will be what kills me.
I'm reading one of those fanfics that is just SO FLIPPIN AWFUL and yet I can't stop!
You know what I'm talking about. It starts off as a simple J2 hurt/comfort and it's fine for a bit. Then it starts to go a bit sideways and you think you can ignore the little things that are popping up - the off phrasing and the over-the-top schmoop, the holes and gaps in the story, a few mis-spellings like here and hear....
Then you're half way through and you get to the first sex scene and you realize that it's going to be every stereotype of gay porn you've ever read or seen with "Please! I can't. Just Please! Jesus you're so tight!" every other line. This is where you start skimming over lines and even sections.
Two thirds in and you now you are in for the long haul because YOU CANNOT LEAVE A FIC UNDONE DAMN IT and at this point the fic is just... it's just...
Now you are questioning yourself over why for the love of everything holy are you not stopping and moving on to something else?
Because you can't. You just don't have it in you to leave a book or fic un-finished. It's the reading OCD part of you that will never die. It's the part that continually says "What if the fic gets better and is just ALL THE FEELS?!!?" even though you know that's a one in a bizillion chance and you tell yourself to keep going anyway.
And now I just want to hunker down and finish the damn thing and check it off as read. And until that last sentence...
