"DiNozzo. Morasca. Go talk to the neighbors, see what they can tell you about Lieutenant Parker."

Nodding, Anna packed up her things, pausing when her partner hesitated. His date..."It's dinner time, Boss... maybe now's not the best time to bug the neighbors..." All Gibbs had to do was stare and DiNozzo rushed off to meet her at the elevator with ( Read more... )

"Anna!" Tony yelled, as the man expunged the agent from her home, and quickly, he went in pursuit.

Hurrying down the fire escape, he chased the man into a dark, secluded alley. There was no one around but the three of them, and Anna, to Tony's knowledge, was still unconscious.

Tony fought against the thoughts that were flooding his mind, knowing that if he'd just done his job, Anna wouldn't have been attacked, he never would've ended up at her residence, and he and Anna wouldn't be held at gunpoint right now.

He could barely see the two bodies in front of him as they blended in with the darkness, and that frightened him, being that it was not only one of a fellow agent, but of a friend, someone he truly cared about, and there was no backup this time.

"Federal agents!" Tony yelled. "Hand her over and drop your weapon!"

Shots rang out and the man dropped Anna to the ground, fleeing blindly towards Tony, the only light illuminating where the senior agent was standing was that of the street light across the way.

Tony was torn now. He wasn't sure if he should flock to Anna's side or pursue the dirtbag that captured her in the first place.

Finally, standing at the end of the alley, in the street, Tony fired four rounds at the perp who fled the scene in an unmarked vehicle. He quickly ran to Anna's side, shaking her gently as he assessed her for wounds, encouraging her to open her eyes. "Anna? Anna, baby, come on. Open your eyes for me." He needed her, not only for his own sanity, but for the protection of them both... Then again, her weapon was left back at her place. "Come on, Anna."

"Tony..." She coughed, hand coming from her throat to cup his cheek, a warm liquid dripping from her hand. In the fray, the man had taken the knife he carried and slit her throat.

However, the man was oblivious to the proper way to kill a person, and had tilted her head back enough that he avoided severing her trachea and major arteries.
