Usually I do this post on the 14th. since my friend D passed away on Valentines Day 5 years ago, I've been doing this in part as a reminder of him and also to assess my year see where I've been and where I want to go. I missed last year because I had just entered a new relationship and work was keeping me crazy. On that front nothing has changed. The workload has grown at an amazing rate. But before I get into that let me go back and look at what has gone. My first graphic novel The Sons Of Liberty is off at the publisher. It comes out on May 25th in greater bookshops and comic stores everywhere. I started dating my girlfriend Holly and over a year later we are still together. Moved out of Brooklyn which was a surprise quite honestly because it is something I thought I would never do, and am now living in Philadelphia. I'm still teaching at the Art Students League every Sunday in New York and have a great batch of students. My friend and co-creator
planetx and I signed with Barry Goldblatt agency in December for our own bit of graphic novelly goodness, and I am doing a 3 musketeers adaptation for Sterling Press. I've made some great new friends since moving to Philly and have been working hard to keep in contact with my New York people (staying in touch is something I'm terrible about). I'd say that it has been a good year. All the work stuff has been great, but Holly has really been the best thing to happen to me in a long time. I can't think of a better compliment at the moment so i will just leave it there. Valentines Day was fun. We saw the Wolfman after I got home and talked about the impact of suburban sprawl on the environment and I just love her to death and her mad scientist ways.
This year looks to be equally busy and I will say challenging. I've got to finish all three projects this year. The good thing is that all of them are in various stages of production which is good. I think that is enough of a goal for the year wouldn't you say. Keep your eyes peeled for the super project from me and
planetx. We have plans, he and I, for some pretty awesome stuff that will be announced both here and other places on the interwebs. Where will the rest of the year take me? I have no idea and that is part of the fun. I like the unknown and the adventure that it represents. Here is to it and to never stop being surprised. To D as well. You are still missed.
