Hello, all 5 of my LiveJournal readers!
Let's see what has happened recently:
1. Hubby is sick, so I made him some kick-ass chicken soup from scratch. It actually tastes really, really good. I'm glad I couldn't find cans of it in the store! I rawk the soup pot. My next soup creation will either be ginger carrot soup with blood orange juice, or Turkish-style rice and yogurt soup with garlic and cucumber.
2. I taught myself nålbinding, which is a medieval kind of knitting where you use only a big needle and your thumb, and I've been making a hat. This is for Seth's SCA costume. Right now the hat is lumpy and wierd looking, but I imagine with practice I will make better ones. The one I have now isn't bad for a first attempt.
3. I now am getting letters of support from my current boss in my quest for employment. I think my applications are stronger each time I revise them, and now that Petra is on board, I now have three strong letters each time I send an application. In addition, a university in Canada (in Edmonton, to be precise) is hiring, and I've applied for that one. I have a good chance of an interview since they will preferentially hire Canadians. I'm hoping that one of these applications I've sent out (and I've sent out a lot of them) will pan out and result in my getting an interview, and I'm hoping that this time I do such a good job with my interview that they hire me. I did have an interview once for St. John's in Newfoundland, but (a) I didn't really want that job, and (b) I don't think I did so well on the interview. See how it goes next time around.
4. Swedish lessons are resuming, and they're getting more challenging and concentrated. I hope by the end of the course I can read Swedish and speak a bit. I'm not so good with speaking as I am with reading, so I think that will develop more slowly. Seth is better with languages and it's more important that he pick it up, so I am hoping he does better than me in class.
5. Seth has a few options when it comes to employment in Sweden- so hopefully one of those will work out and we will have extra income. It would be nice to travel more, and to go out more for dinner or to clubs in Stockholm.
