The Dawn Treader had returned from the second island several days ago and while everyone was safe and accounted for (ITF and squints alike), Brendan had not seen or heard from Eden since then. She's wading out of the sea when she sees Brendan heading towards her hut. Her swimsuit leaves a lot to be desired, but at least it's not a bikini.
"Nobody home," she calls, raising her hand.

"Nice piece of real estate you have," Brendan said cheerfully. Take it back, take it back! "Er, I mean, nice hut!"

"Did you come all the way out here just to stare at my real estate, Dean?"

She walks past him, into the hut, not waiting to see if he follows. It's been habited some time before, and there was already furniture in it when she moved in; a wide bed, a chest, some shelves. She doesn't own anything; some folded clothes, a pair of boots, a pair of sneakers. The pipe and tobacco that Brendan gave her are sitting on the shelf immediately above her bed.

"It was difficult, yes." Her eyes flick to the bottle on the table, and it's as though she makes a concious decision to change her expression.
"Trying to get a girl drunk, Agent Dean?"

"You know, if you ever want to talk about any of that, you can," Brendan offered quietly. "I know it's not easy because there's no one really here who's from where you are and seen it with you, but - I'll always listen."

"Don't say that," she says, stepping closer. "Don't be that person who says it's okay to be weak, Eden. It's okay to fall apart. It isn't okay, Brendan. It's never bloody okay. None of it is."
