Lions Now
Ricardo we are lions, now that flesh
is ripped from ivories when you play these songs
I sang so well before I fell from cliffs
you wouldn’t shudder at if you were mine
at all. You see, I know your married type
like I know the back of fate’s hand.
My dumb Adonis don’t you wait
on this. I stopped falling in love with men
who draw me philosophical diagrams
on paper napkins. But don’t fret.
There are plenty of piranhas in the sea.
