I'm off to a nice start with my
NaNoWriMo (just over ten thousand words) but I want to double that by Thursday morning because I will be out of town from Thursday late morning until Sunday night with very minimal internet access - just going to reply to comments and TRY to update Gotham Times (if I can access a desktop from my location).
I will have a couple of notebooks with me, though, and every moment of spare time will be used to toil away on these fics ~ I am determined to leave everyone with at least three more ficlets, possibly a third if I can really drive myself. :)
One of my best friends is getting married and I am a bridesmaid, so that is what I will be up to.
So this is just a heads up to keep everyone up to speed. :)
::ETA::
All right, so tomorrow is a very big day for the world - it's the day that determines whether the United States of America should officially have all of its friends line up and one by one kick it in the bum.
I am talking, of course, about Election Day.
I don't get terribly personal in this journal but because I have many international friends here I want to address this issue.
I'm not terribly political, I recognize my views as mere opinions and I keep them to myself unless asked. I do, however, acknowledge that the society I live in is swayed by public majority ruling and that my opinion DOES matter. So I play the electoral game, despite my head space being on an entirely different plane of existence.
I don't know why we've had our heads up our ass these last 8 years, but I have never been more confident of a political campaign than I am of the one going on right now. I can honestly say that in the 8 years I've been legally able to vote there has not been a single election that has inspired SO MUCH FANDOM like the one going on right now. It is OBAMA-RAMA here in Hollywood Land and I know we tend to live in our own glitzy, skinny galaxy here in Los Angeles but I can't help but feel a swell of hope & assurance when I think of that awesome man.
In one hundred and fifty years we went from a nation that enslaved men of his ethnicity to proud determination to make an African American man the leader of our country, confident he can square things away for us and bring us into a better light with our global brothers & sisters. It was a long, hard process but by god that is social evolution if ever there need be a definition.
So I'll hop down off my soapbox here and just let everyone know that tomorrow I will be playing the role of Good American Citizen as I roll out of bed, stumble down the street in a sleep deprived zombie daze and proudly check off that box that says I WANT BARACK OBAMA TO BE MY PRESIDENT!
I'm hoping the rest of my USA friends here will do the same.
because good lord do we need the street cred ~.~
