As always, I've managed to find a plethora of ways to avoid grading the papers that languish, still, in my tote bag. This is getting to be a problem.
Parent conferences all day tomorrow, in 20-minute appointments. I have a big chunk of un-appointed time in the afternoon, because everyone wanted morning timeslots. I dislike these mandated conferences: they seem very artificial. For many kids, I have nothing to say other than "...wonderful year so far..." so that 20 minutes is far too long. For others, 20 minutes is only enough to brush the surface of what I need to say.
