Tolten's First Letter

Jul 03, 2011 11:46

My Dear Nephew Arthur,

It is my sincerest wish that you are finding yourself well. You are close in my thoughts and my heart, and of course I do look forward to whenever I may see you again. I certainly hope you aren't being too hard on yourself over this whole affair. You always have been - too hard on yourself, I mean. Of course I understand why, and I hardly blame you, but it pains me so when you twist yourself into passions! And of course I trust the staff at the Institute, but I cannot help but worry you're allowing your self-doubt and self-blame to run away with you.

I realize that you must feel lonely, but remember I am with you in spirit, Arthur. No matter what happens I am a part of you. Remember that when you find yourself losing heart. I am always with you.

And of course please don't worry about me! I find myself rather lonely without your constant and comfortable presence, but I assure you I am keeping myself busy. I've finally managed to get round to reading that set of historical novels you bought me! I do find the war torn story of our nation fascinating - but you already knew that! We'll discuss it all when you return home! Already I cannot wait to sit across the breakfast table from you again and engage in stimulating debate!

Of course I did find myself in XXXX and found myself missing you. I really sometimes don't know what to do with myself, without you about. What a turn I've taken! Assuring you not to lose yourself to loneliness, and here it is me who truly needs that assurance! I suppose it will take me some time to get used to an empty house. Not that I expect it to be empty for long, of course!

My goodness, this is a terrible letter, isn't it? Boring briefings and an old man's rambling loneliness... you deserve better. And you shall have it. You know I can deny you nothing, my beloved nephew. What would I be without you?

Ah, of course, in the meantime, there is the matter of the family fortune. Don't worry a bit over it! I will tend to everything! You needn't concern yourself with such a trifle!

And please enjoy the cookies. The Senator's wife baked them just for you!

Your Eternally Loving Uncle
