life goals
attempting to recreate the thought process i had in the car on the way here today.

i was trying really hard to stay focused on this thought, i really want to get to the bottom of this and how i feel about it
so. i started with life= birth, reproduction (optional) and death. humanity is a number of people doing those things. but that whole middle part, between being born and dying, thats living. there aren't really any guidelines to that. i would like some sort of goal. but i cannot seem to come up with one. should i live my life selfishly and hedonistically? or should I be selfless and help others at all times? should i dedicate my life to accumulating knowledge? should I try to have as many offspring as possible? should I try to change things? or should I try to make as little impact as possible?
I guess, it depends on the person. Diversity. I guess that is what makes this world, if everybody was acting in one manner, things would be quite stagnant and things would stay the same and be quite boring i guess.
It's like that thing about reality. There is no REALITY. It's merely every persons perception of what they experience. A number of people can look at the same thing and see different things.
durring life, people tend to accumulate knowledge. occasionally some of this knowledge gets passed on to others, in a book, verbaly, by example, by something left behind.. etc. this accumulation of knowledge , one person at a time, or even though mass media, has changed humanity drastically. Our knowledge has made our daily struggle for survival much easier. I guess its a different kind of survival now
if there is no point or reason or goal to life, then basically i can just do whatever the hell I want at any particuar moment. I don't need to be acting in accordance to some outcome. If there is no heaven and hell, there is no purgatory to worry about. If there is no measurement of humanities sucess, why try to had to make progress.
But alas, I cannot just do whatever I want. Everything is owned, you have to buy your necessities. your shelter, your food, so you need a job. you need money.
