Language Barriers
In the last day or so, I've been obsessed with Mando'a, as you've all probably guessed. It's kind of hard not to be, after reading RC:TZ, since the book is immersed with the language.
I've just realized that Mando'a is so easy it can be hard. I've noticed this in trying to convert some popular catch phrases for icons and such and thinking, once I have the translation, that I can't possibly be right. Then I translate back to English and find that the basic gist of whatever I'm converting is still intact, even if the words are not quite the same.
And I suppose that's what's so hard. How you take a phrase and pare it down to such basics? I just realized how easy it is to do: take out all the ifs, ands, fors, etc. and all you're left with are the words that really matter.
I'm in the middle of looking for a good image to put with this, but here's the one that prompted this random and incoherent post:
All for one, and one for all = an solus, solus an = all one, united all
*sheepish grin* I may or may not be getting the hang of this translation thing.
But hey, like the icon says: No guts, no glory!
