Okay, so I finally broke 1K. Considering the fact that I need to be over the 6K mark by the end of tonight to be on par with the month, this...is nothing unusual for me.
I suspect once I get one or two more critical details down things will pick up, since I have the basic story outlined.
Anyway, here's something of an excerpt.

Richard Woolsey watched from his office as John Sheppard entered the control room, gently tugging the hem of his day uniform shirt in an effort to straighten the garment. The first thought through Dick's mind was that Sheppard was making an extra effort to adhere to military standards of neat and tidy uniforms; the smile that thought produced faltered as he first recalled that Sheppard was never one to adhere that closely to military protocol, and as he secondly watched Callista Galvin emerge from underneath one of the consoles.
Galvin had arrived on the latest personnel swap during the Daedalus' visit several weeks ago. She was an information technologist that had been appointed to the expedition to give the scientists a break from having to deal with the minute computer problems that cropped up from time-to-time. This freed them up so they could continue on whatever projects the Science Department had going on, as well as reserving those men and women for emergency tech support only. Of course, the fact that Galvin was still waiting on the rest of her team to be cleared through the bureaucratic red tape that civilian contractors normally had to go through to get appointed to Atlantis meant that she had the unfortunate task of being run ragged as she dealt with all the glitches. The red tape was necessary, however, as the SGC and the IOA had learned their lesson several years ago when a member of the Trust had managed to infiltrate the expedition and nearly succeeded in destroying Atlantis. Disaster had been averted only by the determined sleuthing of one Lieutenant Laura Cadman, who had served for a couple of tours with the expedition and was currently on assignment somewhere on Earth.
