X-Wing Series Reading Group
Last year around this time, I tried doing this with Harry Potter as a count down to HP7.2 but I ended up (a) blowing my reading schedule out of the water due to being off work (I finished all 7 books in about 5 weeks) and (b) not keeping up with the "discussion" part of it because of this. However, now that I am employed full-time and have a handful of other things on my plate, this should hopefully go a lot better ;)
So here's the deal: Aaron's newest installment for the X-Wing series is due out in August sometime. A tentative date for the paperback seems to be the 15th. I want to re-read the entire series as a prep for this, but I want to get some discussion going on it, too, to make it interesting.
After a quick poke at the next couple of months, if we start reading X-Wing: Rogue Squadron this Sunday and take 2 weeks to read each book, we will be done Starfighters of Adumar by the 25th of August. This allows everyone to obtain a copy of Mercy Kill if it does indeed drop on the 15th, and then commence reading on the 26th. (Apparently the hardcover comes out on the 7th, but I'm not big on hardcovers. I will gladly wait until the paperback drops.)
So by mid-September, we will have read and discussed all 10 books.
Discussion on the current book begins at the same time as the reading period for the next book, and the discussion period will be considered to go for the entire week, though it's not a hard and fast rule that it has to last that long. It can be longer or shorter.
And anyone can jump in at any time, so join me for one book, two books, all books, or whatever.
