Kimberly Collins played by Naya Rivera
Kimberly or Kim as she likes to be called is a starting out social worker, hired right after finishing her degree. She specializes in families and teenagers. She is a friendly person, but also very introverted. She hasn't had the best experiences and that has left her weary of trusting new people and letting them into her life.
David Reynolds played by Paul Wesley
David is NYPD Detective. He is nice and takes his job very seriously. He is the middle sibling of three sons and is the black sheep of his family. He is no longer in communication with them because he doesn't share the same beliefs that of the rest of his family. Which is fine with him; he has learned to live without his family and thinks he is better off for it.
Kimberly and David met through work and it was like love at first site. The only small problem is David's family. See, Kim is bi-racial, her mom is black and her dad is white; David doesn't have a problem with this, but his family in another matter considering they believe in white supremacy.
(David will be the main love interest in the show)
Nikki played by Eliza Dushku
Nikki has been Kim's best friend since high school after Kim was transferred in sophmore year. They were both labeled as outcast's, Kim for being half black in a school where 95% of the student body was white and Nikki after she came out of the closet for being a lesbian, and decided to stick together; they haven't spent more then a week apart since. Nikki is kind of the exact opposite of Kim. While Kim is quite and innocent, Nikki is loud and wild. It keeps the friendship interest. Nikki is currently going to law school while bartending at night.
Wade played by Jesse Williams
Wade and Kim grew up together since they were kids, their parents being old friends. Wade is also bi-racial, which helps him relate to Kim unlike anyone else. Wade is a little older then Kim and has just started working as a psychiatrist in a small practice. Kim has never seen Wade as anything but an older brother, unfortunately for Wade who has been in love with her for as long as he can remember. Almost everyone can see that, except for Kim of course.
(Jesse will also play a love interest in the show to give the "love triangle" storyline.)
Minor/Recurring characters:
Mikey played by Charlie Hunnam; Jesse played by Aaron Paul
Michael "Mikey" Reynolds is David's older brother, Jesse his younger brother. They are their parents pride and joy's. They are both supporters in their family beliefs and very much active and passionate in the white supremacy community. Once they find out who their brother is dating, they want nothing but to put an end to it any way they can. Despite whats happened in the past, they still love their brother and think they can "save him" from himself. They believe they can change his mind and bring him reunite him with his family.
Mikey has a lot of aggression issues and is more violent of the brothers. Jesse looks up to Mikey and wants to make his family happy and proud of him, but he often has doubts about the lifestyle even though he doesn't show it. Instead he mimics Mike's behavior a lot of the time.
Daryl Reynolds played by Ron Perlman
Daryl is the father to Michael, David and Jesse. He was raised to believe that white people were superior to black people by his father who was taught from his father before. And so he passed these beliefs onto his children. He is extremely passionate about his beliefs and can not be deterred. He also has violent tendencies, a characteristic that was passed on to him and one that he passed on to Mikey.
Michelle Collins played by Gina Torres
Michelle is Kimberly's mother. She is a very kind and caring, yet strong and independent. Her husband died many years ago and she hasn't remarried since. She has played the field by no one will ever be her beloved husband. She raised Kim mostly by herself, except from the help from family and friends, but it was hard at times. She wasn't rich and it wasn't easy to support a family with only one source of income, especially a teacher's salary, but they made do. She is now vice principle of a high school.
Tamy played by Jamie Pressly
Tamy is Mikey's girlfriend. She is also a white supremacist and active in the community. It was actually how she met Mikey. She was happily welcomed into the Reynold family. She is often an instigator to Mikey's violence and has been arrested herself for assault. She can be extremely deceptive and dangerous when she puts her mind to it.
Mock Ship War:
- kim_david4ever: They are the cutest couple EVER! I CANT EVEN!
- wadefan99: Are you kidding?! Wade is so much better for her! David is a jerk. He doesn't deserve her.
- kim_david4ever: WHAT?! David is such a good guy! Plus he is sooooo hot and adorable! And I really love the "forbidden love story" type feel to their relationship.
- wadefan99: No. David is bad news and Wade has always been there for her. Anyone can tell how much he cares about her. He would do anything for her. Plus he is intelligent and kind and sweet. He is not bad looking either.
- kim_david4ever: Thats totally not fair! Just because David wasn't able to grow up with Kim like Wade was or just because he isn't half black like Wade doesn't mean Wade deserves her. David cares about her too. Wade can be a real asshole at times. He is always making these stupid remarks about people. Like in 1.02 at the very end.
- wadefan99: That is so not true. People are over reacting way to much about the ending to that episode. It didn't even mean anything.
- eliza_iza_bamf: So I couldn't care less who Kim ends up with, but I totes wanna see flashbacks of Kim and Nikki in high school and/or college. You totes know they hooked up at some point and I WANT TO SEE IT! They had to have! :P
