Just got off the phone with my mum. She and Steppater will be participating in the Halifax Tall Ship festival this year. Another opportunity to bust out the 18th-century outfits (why yes, she did handmake them, right down to the snazzy tricorn hat). Steppater's going to be rowing a longboat, and Mum's going to be an "animator" ("I'll probably be handing out pamphlets").
Me: "That'll be fun! You can reactivate your Scottish brogue."
Mum: "No, because we're supposed to be Loyalists, which I'm not thrilled about. I don't want to pretend to be English."
