That doesn't sound very much like John Clees's sense of humor. It sound like some bitter Canadian guy, actually.
In any case, this is the kind of over-the-top american bashing that I really dislike. I actually found very little of it funny. All it read to me was "Britain > America" about 5989275829 times. Again, not a John Cleese style joke - I'd check your sources.

Yep, not Cleese. And while the rampant American-bashing isn't like him, the tone DID sound very similar to his...the dry sarcasm, very Cleeseian.
Either way, it's still damned funny, though I could just as easily pen a witty piece lampooning the cultural foibles of Britain...
