So the banks here work differently...it took em a bit to get it all worked out. I tried to get into a bank today while we were at one of the little malls in Pretoria. Let's say that I was a bit challenged or something. The first bank I tried had the two sets of doors. I had seen this before but wasn't used to it. So, I opened the first door and tried to open the second. It wouldn't open so I held the first door open to make sure I didn't get trapped...somehow, it wouldn't work so I went to the next bank. Same problem but at least there was someone outsaide this one whoe pointed out that the first door needed to close entirely to allow me access to the second one....geeze, I'm smart. Then, when I went to the tellar (who is entirely behind glass) to get an advance on my visa, I confused him entirely with my Canadian card. He disappeared to get help from the manager or somethin. Anyway, he needed my passport and for me to fill out a bit of info, then the lady manager had to call something in to cofirm my passport or something. Meanwhile I am having a hard time understanding what the tellar is saying through the glass so I lean closer.....and smoke me head off of the glass. I swear, I am the classiest person I know sometimes. It was too funny. The guy must have thought I was nuts. Anyway, it worked out. Somehow we understood each other, I got my passport back and the money....but it was quite the bank adventure!
In other news, I woke up at 4:30 this morning so that we would all be stationed around the reserve for the sunrise in case any 'rock dassies' came out. We didn't see any....but the sunrise was pretty. And there was a giant herd, upon closer examination turned out to be zebras, red hartabeasts, blue wilderbeasts, blesbok, and we think a couple springbok. And a few people saw the ostriches in the distance but I missed them this morning. The days here are nice and hot, I sun tanned this afternoon by the pool; however, the nights are FREEZING. There is no central heating and the fireplace is fairly far from our room. This morning in the truck on the way out to the reserve, I swear one of the guys said something along the lines of, "I wish I was in Canada right now so that I could be warm." It was quite the joke...
Best wishes everyone, thanks for the comments!
