I discovered
this Japanese painter a few months ago when I was in Paris with my husband, and I fell in love with his prints, which mix traditional imagery and modernity, like the use of perspective, so beautifully. A few examples:
Eitaibashi Bridge, 1937
Rainy night at Maekawa, 1932
He loved to depict snowy or rainy sceneries more than anything, and those are his masterpieces, IMHO.
Rainy season at Ryoshimachi
Of course he wasn't bad at picturing other seasons...:)
Senju Waterfall, Akame, 1951
