Gotcha!

We've made it a happy habit to hang out at Eastwood City Walk on weekend evenings, at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf mostly. Rico The Stealth Dog and I walk around the grounds (Rico's a great chick magnet, hee-hee) while Mano raids the shops, and later we just sit around a table at CBTF with coffee and snacks until midnight or so, soaking up bandwidth and cooling off.

If you hang out there at all, you'll know there are usually a half dozen or so mimes who stand around with the belief that with stillness comes income (something I would like to achieve someday). During weekends the mimes mine the sizeable crowd for coins and bills. Like the Queen's Guard at Buckingham Palace, you can't get them to move when they don't want to. Dressed and made up like statues they pose on the sidewalk with collection boxes in front of them, and they only break cover when there are pretty girls walking by, or to play pranks on clueless passersby.

Last night, being the meanies that we are, Mano and I sicced Rico (not really; he wouldn't hurt a fly - he just went over to be friendly) onto a trio of them statues at the main plaza, and the so-called mimes took one look at our hundred-pound Golden Retriever and ran away like sissies. Everyone in the crowd cracked up. Hah. Chickens.

So much for being mimes.
