I rarely see news photos that make me go ooooh. This afternoon I came across one:
It's a picture of the launch of the space shuttle Discovery, just a few hours ago, from the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida, taken by a New York Times photographer. It was the first night shuttle launch in four years.
For a science nut like me who is also a frustrated amateur photographer, this captures the best of both of those worlds. I'm such a geek.
