Zune zeriously zucks...

... if the Amazon.com sales stats are any indication.

Over the US holiday weekend the list of Amazon's top 25 selling consumer electronic items were topped by the 2-gig silver iPod nano at No.1, then the black 30-gig video iPod at No. 2, then the new 1-gig 2nd generation iPod shuffle at No.3. In fact, Apple products took five of the top ten spots, and ten of the top 25.

Microsoft's (an appellation deliberately omitted by the company in any and all advertising and publicity, and added here only to give credit where credit is due) Zune placed at No. 75 of the top 100 after heavy and intensive broad market advertising and marketing. (Somewhere there's a great lesson for the MS boys to learn here.)

Not good. Not good at all all.

Especially when you consider that Apple's USB iPod Power Adaptor accessory placed 10 ranks higher than the Zune at No. 65.

Now that truly zucks.

Still, I'm looking forward to reviewing one on my magazines. Right now, though, I could rattle off a long laundry list of what they could done to make it work, but I'll hold off first. It's still early. Who knows? I'll try anything once.
