Well, some of the dolls are at summer camp right now. The rest of us are just chillin' having a lazy summer, hehe. I really should clean my room but I haven't gotten that far

A Traveling Doll is similar to Flat Stanley-type dolls or traveling teddy bears. It started on one of the AG messageboards, I think. Basically, the owner of a doll who wants to send that doll traveling, will post a thread asking for other members to host (usually members who have been on the boards for a little bit and/or posts frequently) and those who would like to host, can sign up. Once the owner has the amount of hosts she/he wants, she/he makes a schedule (about 3 wweks at each host's house with a week for shipping) and gives out the general schedule. Then the doll is packed up with a few of her things and sent off to the first host.
Each host pays to ship the doll to the next host and they take the doll to different places around where they live and/or make up fun adventures for her. When their time is up, they ship the doll to the next host.
I've hosted 6 dolls, I think, and I've sent out two. One, a Just Like You with med. skin/curly brown hair/amber eyes-#26) went to Maine, when a member from there asked about hosting; I made her character from Maine. The other, my Kirsten, I sent out on longer trips. Her blog is http://travelingkirsten.blogspot.com It's really fun to host and send out a doll :)
I've been on the fence about Julie. Sometimes I want her and other times I don't. I decided that instead of getting her, the items from her collection that I want, will go to some of my other dolls. I'm getting Nutmeg for one of my modern dolls, who loves bunnies. If I ever get her bed, it'll go to Jess-she loves bright colors! I think I'm also at my 18" AG limit. At the moment I'm thinking of a modern pair of twins but I might actually wait and see what the new proposed historicals are, first.
