Dear Yuletide Author,

Oct 23, 2014 00:22

Thank you so much for writing for me this wonderful holiday season. Some general things about my preferences. I'm pretty easy to please, so let's start with

Dislikes: I'm not a fan of reading non-canon death or tragedy, and I would prefer to not receive non-con. Otherwise my list of Things I Do Not Want is virtually nonexistent.

Likes/Loves: domestic stories and the little scenes that build relationships; stories that end super sappy and those sad ones that end like a kick in the teeth (where you close the page saying, "gosh, that hurt so good"); awkward jealousy and fumbling; fights that make or break a relationship; the first time anything; sex pollen/soul bonds/name-on-wrist fic is my JAM; threesomes of all varieties, and negotiating/functioning within polyamory; stories that look at the very real elements of relationships that fandom usually glosses over or forgets about, both friendship and romantic relationship-wise. Also, I'm a sucker for backstory. If there is a hole in a narrative, something left to the imagination, I want to see it filled. Queer characters are always A+ in my book, and slash is strongly approved unless otherwise stated.

As for my specific fandoms:

Hemlock Grove

Flesh out the skeleton that is the building of their codependent relationship. How/why/when exactly do they get so intertwined with each other's lives?

My single most favorite thing about Hemlock Grove is the awkward codependency that Roman and Peter develop throughout the show. Whether you want to make it romantic or platonic, I would really like to see a better exploration of their relationship. They depend so fully on each other at so many junctures, all while desperately trying NOT to depend on each other, and I find that tension a delight. I would be thrilled with scenes and snippets of their interactions as their relationship builds, an emotional walk through, a specific scene fleshed out. Basically anything, if i'm being honest.

No. 6

I'd like to see the details of their relationship that we don't get to see as they arrive at the end of their story, or where the relationship goes after the story ends.

I'm all about where this relationship between Nezumi and Shion was heading/where it went after the series ended. I'm particularly interested in the build-up to whatever it is they eventually become. All that time spent in such a tiny space, which we are given very little detail about, leads to those few chaste kisses? I'd love to see an AU-type story where all our little fade-to-black scenes were actually a relationship building that we only saw brief kisses from, or an exploration of how the heck all that close-quarters avoidance resulted in romance.

Little Red Riding Hood

Red Riding Hood from some new angle

I love modern retellings and reimaginings of fairy tales. I wish I could give you more concrete details, but I really just love to see what people can come up with to drape over the bones of a fairy tale.

Revenge

What is their relationship like between/around/outside of/after vengeance?

This particular prompt treads pretty firmly into a platonic territory. I feel like it would take a really clear vision and a deft hand to make a romantic/sexual thing work between Nolan and Emily, even in the short-term, so I'll throw that out there. What I really love about these two is how devoted Nolan is to Emily, and how Emily's selfishness tends to distract her from how deeply she cares about Nolan. In the more recent episodes, the building tension between Nolan's devotion and his TOTALLY DONE attitude over Emily's revenge is especially interesting to me. Tell me more about their relationship OUTSIDE of Emily's revenge drama. Are there quiet moments where they are just friends rather than partners in vengeance? If Emily ever manages to wrap this all up with a tidy bow, what is left between them? How did they manage to build a life between the constant plotting and heartache that threw them together in the first place.

Being Human (US/Canada)

I just really want all the domestic-friendship stories about Aidan, Sally, and Josh doing mundane roommate things in the backdrop of their supernatural drama. Alternatively, the AU where they are all corporeal and awkwardly hook up once and then laugh about it and it never happens again.

What it says on the tin. I love everything about the show's dynamics with the three of them (particularly in the earlier seasons), and I just want more of it. I miss the upbeat, goofy, supernatural roommate shenanigans vibe the show used to have, and I feel like the breakdown in their household really broke down the tone of the show from there. So, dear writer, I would love to see some throwback to the easy friendship the three of them had before their worlds got increasingly complicated. I could also imagine that if/when they all had bodies, they would be the roommates who (either intentionally or via drunken decision-making) have a threesome and it is the good kind of awkward, with too many limbs and no idea what they are doing. It's awesome and afterward they never ever feel the need to do it again. So, gen fic. Or accidentally-on-purpose slash.

Happy Yuletide!
