THE Mod Entries
(Coz WE know how to write too)
THREE SENTENCE FICLETS :: MINI CHALLENGE 0.01 ::
Please note that Mod Entries have both an assigned letter and number; list BOTH when you vote for 'People's Choice'.
This is just a bit of fun. It's always nice to see Mods competing against each other in friendly competition right? What do you mean you've never seen that happen?
Mod Note: Mod Entries can be voted for 'People's Choice', and 'People's Choice' ONLY. (Losing Mod's making the banners for that one I guess, or if both graphicy Mods lose I guess we flip a coin? ...IDEK)
People's Choice: All comments are screened...I guess so you guys don't know who you're making the winner, but WE DO *laughs*

+Time stands still...+
(#M1) The First Time He Saw Her, G
Arthur can remember the first time he saw her.
She was arraigning flowers in Morgana’s hair, laughing, giggling so loudly it filled the chambers.
"Arthur, What do you think you are doing?"
- - -
(#S1) Still Life, G
Merlin could sense the powerful magic of the sorcerer that had frozen time all over Camelot and brought each and every person save for him to a complete hault.
As he searched for his enemy he discovered Arthur and Gwen; their mouths inches away from each other, eyes softly half-closed and the slightest of smiles on their lips.
He knew he had to break the spell but he was happy to have seen that split-second captured forever in a picture-perfect memory.
_________
+Arthur and Gwen comfort each other as the world literally falls apart around them.+
(#M2) Comfort, G
It had been 3 days, 4 hours and 10 minutes since Morgana took the throne, imprisoned his father and declared herself as his half sister.
But amongst all the chaos and confusion, Arthur had one thing.
Guinevere.
_________
+One of A/G's children turns up in Camelot.+
(#S2) The Little Prodigy, G
The young girl was no more than fourteen-years-old with a tiny little frame, dark eyes, an almost golden complexion and the darkest blonde hair, on trip to the era before her birth.
As she and her guardian walked deeper into the forest they came across the sword Excalibur, standing tall and proud, deeply sealed inside an enchanted stone.
The girl pulled it out with little effort, but her guardian snatched it back and prepared to seal it in the stone again while saying with a smile, "Now, now this is your father's job."
- - -
(#M3) Dreams Do Come True, G
It had all started when Merlin accidentally knocked over a vase, opening a secret passage which led to a dimply lit room furnished with countless toys.
“Put your hands up Uncle Merlin, you’re under arrest!” a boy with brownish blonde, curly hair and blue eyes shouted, whilst aiming his sword towards Merlin’s neck.
Later on, when Amhar had returned to the future and Merlin was watching Arthur and Gwen share longing looks across the room, he thought dreams really do come true.

(#T1) Save the Servant Girl, Save the World, G
She stands beside him, as they watch the portal ripple the air like water; fate truly is a dirty, godforsaken word, she bites down on her tongue -- unpracticed in not speaking her mind -- and keeps distance between the two of them, afraid she won't be able to let go; for words are one thing, but action, quite another, she thinks tiredly.
He stands taller than her now -- has for the last few Summers -- though he wouldn't dare claim to be stronger; there's a reason only she and his favorite Uncle know his intention; his arm falls around her shoulders, "I'll come back," he promises unsure of whether he can keep his word; she shivers, her words as measured and honest as always, "...but as what?"
* * *
Cinders choke his senses as soon as he steps through, and then he's RUNNING, charging forward, despite it all, like his very life depends on it (in truth it does); her life depends on him being there (when no one else is), to set things in motion...and failing is not something he'll have time to regret; as he runs, his last words to her echo loud in his ears -- Tell father, I'm sorry...that he's too old and slow to know a good plan when he hears it...
...the last thing he'd heard from his world had been his mother's sharp laugh of surprise.
_________
+Arthur writes a love letter to Gwen.+
(#S3) No Words, G
'Guinevere, there are no words to describe how I much I love you,' Arthur wrote and then paused. He crouched over his desk, determined to write the most sincere and romantic love letter he was capable of... but he couldn't think of anything else to write down.
Then he realised that was all he needed to say.
_________
+"Here. Where I am anonymous and alone in a white room with no history and no parading. So I can make something unknown in the shape of this room. Where I am King of Corners."+
(#T2) Title-less in a world of Titles, G
Empty, beaten, exhausted, Arthur sinks to the floor, the covers spilling with him, to clutches his head with both hands; it had been real -- it had been -- the details suffocate his sleeping mind too consistently to be wrong; to be fantasy.
The battles; scars arcing over his body, blood dripping into his eyes, wetting his hands, and streaking his clothes; and his family; tense words shouted to closed minds; and his love; her eyes bright with tears, or mouth curving in joy -- the mix of all of it berates him to no end, with no reprieve in sight -- yet each time he wakes HERE; each day, where the white of the walls hurts his eyes and he's alone; a nothing.
The word trembles on the tip of his tongue, but he dare not speak it (for fear it is true), Forgotten...
_________
+That time Arthur tried to surprise Gwen with dinner, but his sudden presence scared her - and she accidentally knocked him out cold.+
(#M4) Surprise, G
The first thing that alerts her that something is not quite right is the smoke coming from her chimney.
Grabbing the first thing she sees, Gwen sneaks through the back door and “WHACK!”
A few hours later, Arthur is still clutching a compress to his head, “You were trying to make me dinner?” “Well I was but after getting whacked in the head, I won’t be doing that again.”
_________
+Gwen has a secret, Arthur's flowers make her sneeze...+
(#M5) Allergies, G
"Achoo," Gwen sneezes while carefully arranging the flowers that Arthur gave her earlier.
"Why don't you tell him that you're allergic to his flowers?"
"Because Elyan, every time I try to tell him, he looks at me with his puppy dog eyes and I end up not saying anything."
_________
+Dark!Merlin is bringing about the end of time - and so Arthur/Gwen must stop him.+
(#T3) TWIT, G
"Oooooh. NO," Arthur laughed, watching as Merlin's message to the world faded to black, finished; he dramatically placed a hand to his cheek, "Merlin's going to 'End time'..." he swiveled to look at Gwen who was busy breaking through the Firewall protecting Merlin's security system. "But- he ...he can't do that, right...I don't want to die on a Monday and the Game's on this weekend."
Seated in front of a panorama of flashing screens, Gwen shot her husband a glare, and at her words, Arthur's fingers stilled on the buttons on his phone, "Whether we stop him or not - would it kill you to stop tweeting this?"
_________
+"Civilization began the first time an angry person cast a word instead of a rock."
Sigmund Freud+
(#J1) Throwing Not Words, G
"What will it take for you not to throw things at him?" Gwen asked as she cleared up the broken bits of the wooden container that he had launched in Merlin's direction.
He considered an answer but didn't speak; words had never been his strong point and they were proving to fail him at every given moment (especially when Merlin woke him up from particularly good dreams that he would mind making a reality sooner rather than later.)
_________
+“History is written by the victors.”+
(#T4) Begin to set fire to our minds, G
She sees Arthur fall ... and then the figure advancing from the mist choking the courtyard; the figure is familiar, older (he was just a boy when they last crossed paths), scarred, and holds up a hand when she starts towards her husband, stop. She ignores him and an invisible force pushes her backwards -- for a moment she's flying -- and then she's not; and more of her hurts than before, Arthur, the edges of her vision darken and she knows she's about to pass out ... but she fights it.
A hand reaches down, but not to help her up, it presses to her forehead and pain arcs through her body from the point of contact and she screams, though not a sound passes her lips; images flash before her eyes; Lancelot -- image after image of the Knight, over and over -- she can feel her memories warping, bubbling under the command of the magic pulsing through her, and knows something's being taken from her, can feel it tearing away in pieces ... weakened, she has no choice but to let the dark take her ... Arthur?
_________
+Merlin as the Doctor, Gwen as Amy, & Arthur as Rory -- Sometimes living in the Tardis with two emotionally repressed men has it's upside.+
(#J2) Two Men and a TARDIS, G
Sometimes Gwen wishes that Arthur would just trust that Merlin knows what he's doing; it's his TARDIS after all, he knows how the hell to use it (Gwen is pretty sure).
It's not until Arthur manages to pull a nob off that Merlin sits him down and makes him promise not to touch a damned thing ever again or he will, in fact, throw him out of the airlock (it goes way over Arthur's head that there is no airlock and he'd actually just lug him out of the main doors at brute force).
She loves him dearly but she can't help but laugh out very loud at his kick-puppy look that he wears whenever Merlin knocks him down; it's not as if she loves him any less, she just doesn't see the point in not having a laugh at his big-headedness' expense once in a while.
_________
+Doctor Who!Merlin: Merlin!Doctor, Gwen!Amy, & Arthur!Rory. Running from something with an awful lot of teeth.+
(#J3) Right Time For Everything, G
"I'm not sure I quite signed up for this," Gwen hollered at they ran for their lives back towards the safety of the bigger-on-the-inside blue box that she'd come to call home.
"It's your boyfriend's fault," Merlin argued back as he pulled his key from his pocket and gabbed it at the lock with such force that he missed the first time only to be pushed aside by Gwen with the key taken from him so she could, with panicked precision, slip it into the lock and get them to safety.
It isn't until they are safely inside the time-and-space-machine that Arthur speaks; "Fiancé actually."
