A Bit Early for the Chapel - Arthur/Gwen - G (canon kid fic)
Caked from boots to trousers, Arthur wiped, after dismissing another useless servant, who instead of getting rid of it, spread it out more.
Something caught his ear in the hall though, causing him to turn around.
Ah, Morgana's girl, laughing at him.
"Am I funny to you?" He asked her sharply.
"No." The girl lowered her head with shy respect.
"Huh..." Arthur grunted in seven year old fashion and went back to his feeble attempt at getting the mud off. Okay, so maybe he wasn't much better than the servant.
She looked up now, grimacing with dissatisfaction.
"Think you can do better?" Arthur challenged with an expectant look.
"Sure I can." Gwen blurted out before she could stop her too loose lips. Oh! She stepped forward still, with a just damp rag, and rubbed at his boots, and then-
"Uh." Arthur stopped her and Gwen backed away, both embarrassed.
He couldn't help but gaze in amazement though at the part finished already. "Can probably do the rest."
"Yes." She started to leave, but he stopped her. "Thanks. Saved me. Marry me Gwen."
She stared at him as Arthur too stared. What? When did a seven year old who could barely stand girls, propose?
Gwen couldn't help it. Dissolving into laughter she ran out of the room.
Arthur finished getting rid of the rest of the mud off himself, ignoring the fading echoes of her amusement, scratching his head.
