It was like the heavens above created the link, atoms of life all bound together from start, split in the middle, and challenged to find again before death.

It was a near apocalyptic world of too many beggars upon the street, water unfairly rationed, and vigilante law. So his knights rose with him. Merlin finally left his cave of the old.
And Arthur sought. In between battles of terrorists wanting to take over the planet with sick biology and computer virus he searched again and again. But each seeking was futile and dangerous for it turned his mind off task. It made him unprepared.
Underneath, in a dirty basement floor, masked men caught him. They did not want the king of legend, once and forever, to return.
They would not allow that. Restrained, blow upon blow fell upon him, weakening his knees, sickening his stomach. Until finally his eyes shut out the pain.
Noise. So much noise. And then hands. Soft.
Whispers. "Hold tight. Don't give up. Stay..."
Healing. So many days and nights.
And those hands. Soon the face.
And he knew. Atoms meant to never be torn apart. His soul's seeking.
"Guinevere? It's you? In this time?"
She smiled with wonder, of modern age, but still same ringlets, still same calmness and contained passion.
"I'm here. Loving you with all my heart as I did long ago and dedicated to your cause my King."
