It's always either 1D or Coulson with me these days
- I have a cold. I always get a cold about a week before my period (no, I have no idea why) but I cannot afford to have one now when I need to cook. I'm going to break out my mom's old face masks. Also, I'm loading up on Zicam, because it's what my mom's former doctor recommended, and when a leading thoracic oncologist who routinely treats immunocompromised people tells me how to make a cold more bearable, I listen.
- I was in Target with Sis-in-Law and Live While We're Young was playing, albeit bowdlerized. Seriously, it went "Tonight let's… live while we're young." And I was like, is the phrase "get some" too provocative for Target's family image? This is my first experience of a boy band song being censored, and it's fabulously novel.
- I really want to cut my One Direction chapter from my diss, because it doesn't fit. But I'm obligated to have it, because they're so damn popular here. The only thing I can think to do is use them as a reference point for comparison to American bands (and the only other British boy bands I'm mentioning are Take That and Boyzone, for context.) Also, Louis Tomlinson continues to give me all the thinky thoughts on heteronormativity, and I don't yet know if they're going to get channeled into an article or fic. Or both. My long-neglected academic blog needs posts.
