Back home. Internets, I missed you. Seriously, I had to stand out under a walnut tree in the middle of a pasture to check my email for the past week.
And of course Anderson Cooper comes out while I can't talk to the internet about it. Flist, did I ever tell you about the paper I wrote about Anderson Cooper, Matt Bomer, and Johnny Weir and the mechanics of the glass closet in internet-land where no one is afraid to post anything about you on a blog? I didn't try to get it published two years ago, even in the most obscure of academic journals, because I have a thing about anything that even hints at outing people without their consent, and now they're all out so it's not relevant anymore. My academic dilemmas, let me show you them.
South Carolina was fun. I discovered that cousin J is a Tumblr person. As we agreed not to exchange usernames, he said, "Facebook is for family. Twitter is for real life. Tumblr is for... other stuff." And then we kept quoting random memes and catchphrases at each other that no one else understood.
I bought the girls Nooks for the trip, and they ended up reading a lot of wrestling fic that I loaded for them, and I assigned them Carrie for their first summer reading book, so they're working their way through that. I should possibly not be in charge of their summer academic schedule.
And a bunch of other stuff happened, but right now I'm too busy waiting for American Airlines to deliver my lost luggage to remember it.
