Dear Yuletide Writer

Nov 17, 2009 00:02

I know, late. And I know my prompts for yuletide is descriptive enough, but after some more thinking and reading everyone else's letter, I realize how helpful a Yuletide letter could be, especially being someone who works better with prompts myself. So, here is mine.

First of all, this is my first year participating, and I'm beyond excited. The idea of receiving a fic from someone who might be a total stranger to me is wonderful and intimidating at the same time. I mean, I don't even know you (maybe), but you're willing to give this gift to me! That in itself is already great, and I appreciate all the effort you put into the story. As long as you write for any of my requested fandoms and feature my requested characters, I would be a happy camper and be eternally grateful to you for making my Christmas just that little bit more wonderful.

In general, I like seeing my couples happy. I'm not against angst as long as they get a happy ending at the end of the day. I would prefer no character deaths unless absolutely necessary (especially not one of the people in the pairings), no slash (unless it's canon) or porn. I'm more of an emotional kind of girl, so I like reading more about feelings rather than the physical action (that is not to say they can't sleep together in the story of course, but I don't need too much details in those scenes). Kissing is lovely and encouraged. :D However, if you do not ship my pairings and for some reason don't feel comfortable writing them as couples, then obviously friendship is always okay!

Oh, and while I only requested the pairings, feel free to include other characters to interact with too, I definitely would love to see them.

Request Fandom #1: Lie to Me (tv)

Characters: Cal Lightman/Gillian Foster

Details: A situation occurs in which Cal and Gillian finally realizes their feelings for each other goes beyond just friends or coworkers, and act on it. How did they get there and what happens next?

Emphasize on the premise, as in how they get there, to that point where they finally decide to act on their feelings for each other. We know how good they've been with staying professional all this time, even if we can see that they care deeply about each other and have glimpsed a few jealousy moments from both of them. So what I would really love to see is that trigger that finally brings them together. Feel free to go to any extremes. If you can't find any idea that works, then a story about their more tender moments outside the office would be lovely too. Maybe a story about Christmas or the holidays - what do they do that time of the year? Do they spend it together, give each other gifts? Go wherever your imagination leads you to!

Request Fandom #2: Diana Peterfreund - Secret Society Girl series

Characters: Amy Haskel/James Orcutt

Details: After graduating from Eli, Jamie works for the CIA. Amy gets recruited too. Let the super spy romance commence.

So yeah, I know this is a very specific idea. And I also know it can sound daunting especially if you have never watched spy shows/movies. Which is why I would be as happy if you take another route - maybe just show how life for Amy and Jamie is after graduation? How has Rose & Grave affect their lives beyond Eli? Basically, I would love to see any future scenes.

Request Fandom #3: WITCH (book or comic)

Characters: Caleb/Cornelia Hale

Details: Anything that defies the "Cornelia & Caleb are not meant to be" idea the comic is pushing on us. If possible, would love to see some W.I.T.C.H magical action too.

Okay, so I know in the comics they didn't end up together and Cornelia started dating Taranee's brother (I think? My memory on the comics is a bit vague). And I read there's those extra stories that showed us what would've happened had Cornelia stayed in Meridian to be with Caleb and if Caleb tried to stay in Earth with her. Basically it spelled their doom, saying that their love is not meant to be. So I would love to see anything that proves this theory incorrect, because for me personally, they're totally destined for each other. Just bring them back together! :) Appearances from the other girls (Will, Irma, Taranee, and Hay Lin) would be fun.

Request Fandom #4: Eoin Colfer - Artemis Fowl series

Characters: Artemis Fowl/Holly Short/Minerva Paradizio

Details: In which the unlikely couple of human and fairy realizes they're in love with each other. If possible set after the kiss in The Time Paradox. Other character's appearances are awesome of course, especially if you manage to sneak Minerva in somewhere (possibly to add to the love triangle?).

That drunken kiss in The Time Paradox made me flail with joy, and I would just love to see the follow-up to it more than just some awkward moments. These two are so different and not just because they're human and fairy, so I think it would be really interesting to see them in a romantic setting. Especially because it would be awesome to see the great Artemis Fowl in love, showing his softer side. Minerva can be thrown in to complicate things, because I've always thought they're kind of match made in heaven? Both child prodigies, both having goddess names as their names (seriously how awesome is that?). Except I kind of ship Holly/Artemis more. But yeah, feel free to go wild with this!

That's it, and I hope I'm not being way too complicated or demanding for you. You know that those details are optional, right? XD So if you're absolutely stuck, and you're flailing in panic as the deadline approaches, I would totally understand if you ignore all this completely and just go with something else entirely. You're already doing me a huge favor by writing a story at all, so whatever happens, thank you! ♥

yuletide
