18 going on 19: A Self Reflection

Sep 25, 2007 22:38

In 8 days, I will be 19. Here is what I know:

- This past year flew by.. and I kind of feel like time moved on without me. I have memories of it, but each memory kind of bleeds into the next one.

- I've started to separate my life into two categories: GOOD EVENTS & BAD EVENTS. And I try to focus on the GOOD EVENTS.

- It is hard to find trustworthy people, but it becomes easier to smell the bullshit on someone's breath.

- Don't be afraid of compromise. You usually get what you want in the end, anyway.

- Change is scary. But, as Dad always says, "It builds character."

- Growing up is tedious. And as soon as you think you've grown up, you haven't even begun.

- I am still totally mad about David Bowie.

- Love is fucking difficult.. But so worth it.

- Even after the shittiest of days, "I will live to smile again."

- You will never look absolutely perfect. It just doesn't happen. Everyone has something to bitch about. I'm coming to terms with this.

- It usually works out better if you do it right the first time, but if you fuck up, try again. And if you mess up again, wait a bit.. Then try again. And so on and so forth.

- The further away you get from your childhood, the more you want it back.

- Usually, the little things really do mean the most.

And of course,

- Life is not fair.

Even though I know so little, I know for a fact that I have a few wonderful, genuine people in my life, who have continuously stuck by my side. They know who they are and to them, I am eternally indebted and eternally grateful.
