The vampires rose, sending clods of earth bubbling above them. The father James - in the center - cleared first, and Sarah got him with a crossbow shaft before he had time to straighten up. Aly and Amy closed,back to back, waiting for the other two to finish rising.
"Shoulda brought a sword," Amy said softly. "I don't care if it's not 'sporting'"
"We'll work on it for next time," Aly said. "Had a hard enough time getting her to let us have the crossbows."
"Tradition shmadition," Amy scoffed.
A faint shout of exertion and possibly pain came from the northwest - Jess' position. Seconds later, a scream came from the southeast - where Kelly and Souther were presumably fighting off a vamp.
Crap. Every instinct Angel had was telling him to jump into the fray. Wes hadn't said anything about not helping in an emergency.....
"Aly?" Sarah called, waiting for orders.
"Go help Jess! We've got it covered here!" Her de-facto leader cried, engaging the snarling youngest fledge.
