4 yrs. ~ Began working (picked cherries & blueberries)
11 yrs. ~ Stood up to his father for the first time
13 yrs. ~ Mother dies
14 yrs. ~ Quit school to work on a farm
16 yrs. ~ Worked at a box factory
17 yrs. ~ Champion Boxer of Cherry Orchard
17 yrs. ~ Began working at a bakery
16-20 yrs. ~ Took care of dying father
20 yrs. ~ Father dies (3 mo. Before he meets future wife)
20’s ~ Quit boxing (almost killed a man outside of bar)
