A week and 4 hours.
Just a little update in case you haven't been around me lately.
Things are feeling pretty good right now, though, all those little details finally coming together. I got my visa and passport in the mail today, along with my international drivers license! (here's to hoping i'll get to do a little fourwheeling. As Mo would say, bumpy roads are the best.)
Got work and a final out of the way today, and even got around to doing some packing. It's true, Abby... I feel better when I've got some things off the walls and in little piles all over my room. Somehow I feel better about life when I'm half-moving. It amplifies life and you're experiencing the present and the past all at the same time. (i.e. you're living life but you're packing up all your past.) Life comes full circle and you have a moment to see where you've been and what you've done. Also, I looked down at my pile of journals and realized I have more journals than many people in the world have of books of any kind... and those are the kind of people I'm going to be living with all summer.
As the time has approached, I could feel myself holding on more closely to what I'm being taught. The thought's been rolling around that, "people are going to be asking me questions about this, and I have to explain in another language concepts that I'm just getting a "B" in... and these are issues that affect their entire life." It affects my whole learning approach.
I got elbowed in the face last night! I was so scared that I was going to get a bloody nose, but I survived and so far don't have a black eye. Then today Grandma came to school and visited. We were hanging out in the cafe and my friend Nate snapped a quarter and it hit her in the face! It was terrible, but she was awesome and the whole situation was just hilarious. Because you just don't DO that to grammas.
Speaking of things that just AREN'T DONE, I have three finals tomorrow, enough to make me want to give up on the lot. Buncha punks.
