“God Is A Comedian Playing To An Audience Too Afraid To Laugh”

Facebook does seem to be taking over as the dominant force in the internet craze for social-networking sites but it's still crap for writing so there's always room for alternatives. It does, however, allow one to interact and discover all sorts of fun things about one's friends and their lives (if in a slightly stalker-esque way). But I've discovered an amusing number of variations in my friend's profiles… a number of assorted 'Religious Views'.

Now these range from the standard actual belief systems:

- Christians & Catholics - of various assorted denominations
- Atheists - or Aetheists, it seems they come in an assortment of spelling denominations
- Anglo-American Unified Skinny Dipping Church - this is fictional
- Spiritual - I know hippies too
- Apachumamma - for the serious hippies
- Shinto - but he's not Japanese
- Communism - I can but hope this is ironic but I don't believe it is

But they also include a number of more inventive - and some less inventive - variations on the theme:

- "Holy Codism" - apparently the cod is called Harold
- "Pastafarian" - for the religious cynic
- "Confused but delirious"
- "Going straight to heaven" - I'd be bloody surprised if she did!
- "I haven't got time!"
- "I have some"
- "Remember to say 'Please' and 'Thank you', chew with your mouth shut"

Some of my friends are not nearly so delicate or profound with their beliefs, listing their religious views as:

- "Football"
- "My arse!"

And the very eloquent:

- "Fuk it!"

That's not even a typo, he couldn't manage to spell fuck correctly! I also somewhat bizarrely have two completely unconnected friends who list their religious beliefs independently as:

- "Don't be stupid" and "I'm not stupid"

But the prizes for the most inventive have to go to those with the following 'Religious Views':

- "I like hymns"
- "360"
- "don't get me started"

Only it turns out that last one isn't so unique as facebook has loads of other people who seem to be equally frustrated. But the winner in my books has to be:

"Religious Views: cause too many wars"

Ne'er a truer word was spoken…
